Risk Disclosure
Effective Date: May 19, 2026 · Version 1.0
Issuer: Cause Vision s.r.o. (Prague, Czech Republic, ID: 17539013).
Don't invest unless you're prepared to lose all the money you put in.
Cryptoassets and the Services described here are high-risk. You are unlikely to be protected if something goes wrong. Take 2 minutes to read this page before you deposit, trade, or hold digital assets through Cause Wallet.
1. Volatility and total loss of value
Digital assets (including BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, CAUSE, and any other token supported by the Services) are highly volatile. Their prices can swing significantly within minutes and can fall to zero permanently.
- You may lose all of the funds you deposit.
- Past performance is not a guide to future performance.
- Stablecoins are not risk-free — they may de-peg, be frozen by their issuer, or fail entirely.
- Newly listed assets carry elevated price-discovery and liquidity risk.
2. No deposit insurance, no investor protection scheme
Balances held in the Cause Wallet are not protected by any government-backed deposit-insurance scheme (such as FDIC in the United States, FSCS in the United Kingdom, CDIC in Canada, the European Deposit Insurance Scheme, or equivalent local schemes). They are not covered by securities investor protection schemes.
If Cause, our custodian, or any third-party provider becomes insolvent, you may not recover the full value of your balance and may lose it entirely.
3. Transactions are irreversible
Once a digital-asset transaction is broadcast to a public blockchain it cannot be reversed by Cause, by the recipient, by your bank, or by the network. There is no chargeback right and no equivalent of the consumer-protection dispute mechanisms available for credit-card payments.
You alone are responsible for verifying the destination address, the selected network, and the transferred amount before confirming. Sending an asset to a wrong-chain address typically results in permanent loss.
4. Custody and counterparty risk
Balances held in the Cause Wallet are custodial: Cause holds the private keys on your behalf. This means:
- You depend on Cause and its sub-custodians to safeguard your funds.
- If Cause or a sub-custodian is hacked, suffers internal fraud, or becomes insolvent, your funds may be at risk.
- Subject to legal/regulatory orders, balances may be frozen, seized, or otherwise restricted.
We use industry-standard security controls (segregated wallets, multi-signature where applicable, hardware-backed key storage, access controls), but no system is perfectly secure.
5. Smart-contract and protocol risk
Some supported assets and features rely on smart contracts and on the integrity of underlying blockchain protocols. These systems may:
- Contain bugs that allow funds to be drained or locked.
- Be exploited via reentrancy, oracle manipulation, or governance attacks.
- Be upgraded in ways that affect the value or behaviour of held tokens.
- Undergo hard forks, contentious chain splits, or validator collusion.
Cause does not audit or warrant the security of third-party smart contracts. Losses arising from protocol- or contract-level events are at your risk.
6. Liquidity and market structure risk
- Markets for some assets are thin and may not allow you to buy or sell at quoted prices, especially in large size.
- Spreads (the difference between buy and sell prices) may widen sharply during volatile periods.
- Trading may be suspended for an asset at our discretion or by external market venues, exchanges, or regulators.
- Cause is not a market-maker for the assets it lists and does not guarantee the availability of a market.
7. Operational and security risk
- The Services may be unavailable due to maintenance, technical failure, third-party outage, denial-of-service attack, or force majeure.
- Email accounts, authenticator devices, and phones can be compromised through phishing, SIM-swap, malware, or physical theft. You must protect them.
- We can never recover a credential we never knew (e.g. an authenticator seed you didn't back up).
- Mobile and web platforms (iOS, Android, browser) may have vulnerabilities outside our control.
8. Regulatory and legal risk
Cryptoassets are subject to rapidly evolving regulation. New laws, rules, or regulator guidance — in any jurisdiction in which you live, transact, or pass funds through — may at any time:
- Restrict your ability to buy, hold, send, or receive certain assets.
- Require us to delist tokens, suspend features, or report transactions.
- Impose new tax, reporting, or registration obligations on you.
- Render certain Services unavailable in your country.
You are responsible for knowing the law that applies to you. Cause may restrict, suspend, or modify the Services to comply with regulatory developments, with or without prior notice.
9. AML, sanctions, and transaction monitoring
Cause operates an Anti-Money-Laundering (AML) programme and screens transactions against Sanctions and politically-exposed person lists. We may:
- Delay, refuse, freeze, or reverse a transaction where we identify risk indicators.
- Request additional information about source of funds, source of wealth, or the purpose of a transaction.
- Report suspicious activity to competent authorities (and we are prohibited by law from disclosing certain reports to you).
- Close your account if we cannot satisfy our compliance obligations.
10. Tax risk
Cryptoasset transactions may give rise to income tax, capital gains tax, value-added tax, withholding tax, and reporting obligations in one or more jurisdictions. You are solely responsible for understanding and meeting your tax obligations.
Cause does not provide tax advice. Where required by law we may withhold tax or report your transactions to tax authorities (including under FATCA, CRS, the OECD Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF), or equivalent local regimes such as DAC8 in the EU). You should consult a qualified tax professional.
11. CauseCard-specific risks
- The CauseCard is a Visa Platinum prepaid card issued by Rain Cards, not by Cause. The cardholder relationship is governed by Rain's separate cardholder agreement.
- FX rates and fees apply for purchases not in USD; rates are set by the card network and disclosed in your statement.
- Some merchants do not accept prepaid debit cards or have specific category restrictions.
- The Card may be frozen, suspended, or terminated by the issuer, the card network, or Cause for reasons including fraud suspicion, regulatory order, or violation of card-acceptance rules.
- The Card is not a credit instrument. Spending capacity is limited to your funded balance.
- Card balances may not be covered by deposit-insurance or e-money-issuer protection in your jurisdiction.
12. No investment advice
Information shown in the Services — including prices, charts, market data, asset descriptions, the Cause Wallet Assistant (chat), and educational content — is provided for general information only. It is not investment, financial, legal, accounting, or tax advice and should not be relied upon as such. You should consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
13. Third-party providers
The Services depend on third parties whose performance is outside our control, including:
- Sumsub (identity verification)
- Rain Cards (CauseCard issuer)
- Alchemy Pay (fiat on/off-ramp)
- Cloudflare (anti-bot, CDN)
- Public blockchain networks (Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon, and others)
A failure, outage, fraud, hack, or regulatory action affecting any of these providers may interrupt or impair the Services and may cause loss.
14. Forward-looking statements
Statements we make about the future (roadmap items, planned features, growth, partnerships) are forward-looking. They involve risks and uncertainties and may not materialise. Do not rely on forward-looking statements when deciding whether to use the Services or hold any asset.
15. No promise of profit
Cause does not promise, guarantee, or imply any rate of return on any asset or feature of the Services, including the rewards and referral programmes. References to "rewards" or "earnings" describe specific features and are not investment-return claims.
16. Questions or complaints
For questions about this Risk Disclosure or to raise a complaint, contact info@cause.vision. For security-specific disclosures (including discovered vulnerabilities), use techsupport@cause.vision.
EU consumers may submit complaints through the European Commission Online Dispute Resolution portal at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. UK residents may escalate unresolved disputes to the Financial Ombudsman Service in respect of regulated services where applicable.
By creating or continuing to use a Cause Wallet account you confirm you have read and understood this Risk Disclosure and accept the risks described.
